Rescue Roles

Below we have listed some specific tasks that the rescue is always looking for help with. Please comment on any of these assignments that you would be comfortable assisting with.
TRANSPORT DOGS – Dogs most often come to us from shelters and owner relinquishments and have to be moved to foster homes. Occasionally adopters need assistance getting dogs. Sometimes dogs must be moved from one foster home to another. You may be asked to help with a portion of a dog’s journey coordinated with other volunteers or the entire journey depending on your willingness to travel.
DOG ASSESSMENTS – Before accepting dogs into the rescue, we need to evaluate them for adoptability. This may involve assessing dogs in shelters or dogs being relinquished by their owners. You will be given a “check list” to take with you. You must be honest about the dog’s behavior – dog experience is a must here.
HOME VISITS – Foster home applicants are interviewed by phone and then in their home with the family present. Potential adopters are also interviewed by phone and may also be interviewed in their home. You will be provided with a “check list” to take with you to guide you.
INTERVIEWS – The rescue conducts various types of interviews:
-Potential Adopters
-Potential Foster Homes
-Owners Wanting to Relinquish Pets
-Veterinary Checks

GENERAL SUPPORT – We are often overwhelmed with inquiries – from people wanting to relinquish pets to foster homes looking for help with their foster dogs to adopters wondering how to deal with a training issue. Would you be willing to deal with email or phone inquiries of this type?
